Vanessa Redgrave
Vanessa Redgrave (Londra, 30 gennaio 1937) è un'attrice e attivista politica inglese. La Redgrave è salita alla ribalta nel 1961 interpretando Rosalind nella commedia di Shakespeare As You Like It con la Royal Shakespeare Company e da allora ha recitato in più di 35 produzioni nel West End di Londra e a Broadway, vincendo l'Olivier Award nel 1984 come migliore attrice in un revival per The Aspern Papers, e il Tony Award nel 2003 come migliore attrice in un'opera teatrale per il revival di Long Day's Journey into Night. Ha anche ricevuto nomination ai Tony per L'anno del pensiero magico e Driving Miss Daisy. Sullo schermo ha recitato in decine di film ed è stata sei volte candidata all'Oscar, vincendo l'Oscar come migliore attrice non protagonista per il ruolo principale nel film Julia (1977). Le sue altre nomination sono state per Morgan: A Suitable Case for Treatment (1966), Isadora (1968), Mary, Queen of Scots (1971), The Bostonians (1984) e Howards End (1992). Tra i suoi altri film ci sono Un uomo per tutte le stagioni (1966), Blowup (1966), Camelot (1967), The Devils (1971), Assassinio sull'Orient Express (1974), Prick Up Your Ears (1987), Mission: Impossible (1996), Espiazione (2007), Coriolanus (2011) e The Butler (2013). La Redgrave è stata proclamata da Arthur Miller e Tennessee Williams come "la più grande attrice vivente dei nostri tempi", e ha vinto l'Oscar, l'Emmy, il Tony, il BAFTA, l'Olivier, il Cannes, il Golden Globe e lo Screen Actors Guild.
