Waheid Seif

An Egyptian actor specializing in comedic roles, he held a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Alexandria University. During his university years, he joined the Alexandria theater troupe and performed in numerous plays. He moved to Cairo in 1968 and made his cinematic debut in 1971 with the film *Zawjati wal-Kalb* (My Wife and the Dog); he subsequently rose to fame, appearing in dozens of productions across film, theater, and television. His most notable works include *Shari’ Mohamed Ali*, *Al-Mal wal-Banoun*, *Mohami Khol’*, *Sayed El-Atefy*, and *Ayez Haqqi*. He passed away in January 2013 at the age of 73, following a long battle with illness. He was married three times; his first marriage was to the actress Olfat Sokkar. He had two sons, Ashraf and Nasser, both of whom work in the entertainment industry. The day of his death coincided with the passing of actor Nabil El-Hegrasi. Six films featuring Wahid Seif were selected for the list of the 100 best films in the history of Egyptian cinema, based on a 1996 critics' poll: *Zawjati wal-Kalb* (1971), *Khalli Balak Min Zouzou* (1972), *Uridu Hallan* (1975), *Al-Karnak* (1975), *Al-Mudhniboun* (1976), and *Sawaq al-Autobis* (1983).
